Along the River. One of many stops along the river.
Cliff View. We would occassionally stop to briefly explore the shoreline. On this occassion we hiked up a small cliff. This shows how braided the river is in places. Occassionally we would select the wrong channel and run aground. Someone would have to hop out and drag the canoe for a bit until the water became deeper again.
Bald Eagle. We saw this bald eagle at the top of a cliff. We actually saw relatively little wildlife - some muskox, foxes, moose, various birds, and two caribou. That was my only dissappointment on this trip. I had hoped to see some of the large caribou herds. We did however, see about fifty billion caribou hoof prints. Apparently they had passed through the area about a week earlier.
Ubiquotous Wildflowers. Wildflowers were everywhere. Here we are several hundred miles north of the Arctic Circle, and there's hundreds of square miles of wildflowers with bees buzzing around them.
Dramatic Sky. The weather during this trip was quite good. Most days were sunny and warm (60 F). We did have some rain, but it only served to provide a more interesting background for photographs.
